I just spent most of my day at work tweaking new magic systems. I'm very excited with what I came up with.

I reinvented the Alchemy system, it needs a lot of work, but now it at least looks like alchemy, with things flowing into each other instead of the puzzle it was before. There are about 14 elements to work with there, I'll see what I can tweak out of it later.

Shamanistic Magic has taken a huge advance. I went a bit crazy with teh 12 element concept for a bit, but I scaled it back and made it it's own system of magic. It can now be used to replicate ninjitsu, glyph magic, basic alchemy, and all sorts of ritual magic. It's become the foundation of magic within the history now.

Psionics got massively upgraded. I made a branch for each of Mind, Body and Spirit, they all kinda need names at the moment. Psionics, Faith and... something physical. Anyway... it'll be really cool and will actually simply combat quite a bit.

Basically Combat and movement feats are now considered the Physical magic, they'll cost a few CP each, and you'll get the relevant skill and there you go. You can now run up walls, or cut people in half or whatever. This will make things much easer when writing combat rules since now (I can say if you don't have the tech you can't do it (or at least get a penalty) it'll make combat easier for those who *don't* want to worry about being extremely fancy, or those who get easily confused by the limitless options available.

Your basic combat options are now Ready Weapon, Parry and Strike with Melee and Aim and Fire with Ranged weapons. You still get response actions but they're pretty much limited to dodge and block. You can buy Combat Feats to enhance your character if you want to have combat training or go and do something else with all your CP if you can't be bothered.

Finally I restructured Arcane magic, it's not very much branch oriented, you pick out spell branches individually, making it very easy to customize your mage or add a few spells to your character without having to completely overhaul and dedicate tons of CP to magic.

Of course I'll be adding Archtypes, templates and groups of skills and abilities to be purchased at a discount to make it easier for people who want to do something quick and basic.

I currently have two or three skill lists.

One has 60 skills grouped into 5 groups of 12. The other is the other way around and is grouped into 12 groups of around 4, plus two generalized skills.

With the first one, you buy into a group, it would cost about 10 character points or so, then you buy the skills in that group. They'd be about 1 CP each.

The second one, you can buy individual skills for 3 CP each. Or you can buy a cluster of 4 for 10 CP. The Hobby skill costs one and is a vague knowledge of something, Profession costs 5 and is the same thing but more in depth.

I like the second one a bit better, mostly becuase it's easier to add more groups of four as needed than add groups of 12.

There is also the Massive Skill tree that currently holds about 1200+ skills. I need to restructure it in a bit, but in that one the skills basically branch out and cost less based on how far out they are from the core. That one is intentionally in depth with most of the skills being tangles up in explicitly defining each type of craft and tinkering skill. There are 600 craft, design, build, repair, etc skills, the list can be reduced considerable by recursion, but I expanded it mostly to see exactly how big it was.

So.... any suggestions on which system would be better?

You *really* don't want me to draw them.

*SO*

Anyone wanna help me get some? I'd rather they not be some generic avatar pack. I have some ideas in mind and if people are interested we can discuss them here.

I'm looking for about 10 of each:

Generic Human
Generic Sarlin (Gray Alien)
Tarnair (Cardassian/Jem Had'ar)
Kogari (Taz/Catbear-thing)
Trogg (Armadilarhinocerous)
Shyrr (Lizardmen)
Mystic (techno elves, Eldar)
Generic Elf
Generic Dwarf
Gnome (tinker style preferable)
Yarin (Halfling/Kender)
Clockwork/Steamknight
Wizard
Wizard using Crystals
Fighter
Knight/Dragonrider
Rogue (Thief, Treasure Hunter)
Merchant
Expert (Craftsman, Guild/Union stuff)
Dragon, Drake
Harpy, Naga
Nethacker
Pilot
Mechanic
and some other category.

That'll bring about 250 avatars, of course not of them will be available to start. And there might be some more in some categories and less in others, but that's a good start.

Shinies and Perks to anyone who helps me with this. They should be around 100x100 and all the art work should be yours to distribute. While I like pirates, I dislike plagerism. So no.

Where should I start? Should I go with what's there or go somewhere entirely new?

I do have several stories for Revelation Era stuff. That could be fun, and would essentially include all the previous material as background to be later produced.
So... start in the future or the past? You decide!

I have about 25 stories ready to go.
7 For Ecyler Saga
7 for Alamansthara Chronicles
6 for Rakthallos
and 5 for Sharagnarok

Ok, the biggest gripe about the wiki (other than it's apperance) is the fact that it's not heirarchical. This seems to bother some people to no end and they can't wrap their head around it. What this basically means if you can't have directories like Universe.Waredisite.Characters.AlecEcyler or Gunner.Rules.Skills.List turns out that this isn't nearly as painful as it looks. First of all pmwiki includes the wonderdful include page function. Trust me it's an amazing thing. Second, pmwiki only cares about the last page, the stuff before it is all considered one group. Now here's how I do it.

Universe.Waredisite contains all the information about the Waredisite universe. It also contains a link to (among other things) Waredisite.Characters which has all the major characters (and minor ones eventually) from Waredisite. In the case of AlEcyler who is a known 'verse jumper. the we include only the relevant Waredisite data (in fact that's about all the page contains for Alec, a simple include fucntion) from Characters.AlecEcyler See? It's not really that hard.

Same with Gunner.Rules which is an index of the various rules you might need to play Gunner. From there you go to Rules.Skills describing how skills work within the Gunner universe, which leads to Skills.Skills which links to SKills.List

The only problem with this approach is remembering where the core page is. It's usually on the very end of the pages. SO we'll probably end up with a ton of groups and a bit of redundancy at first until we figure it out. Also, don't forget to tag things with categories, it'll make group reorginization and finding things easer. I hope this helps anyone who is trying to mess with the wiki.
Yes, I know the content is lacking right now. These forums literally opened up like... last night. So give me a break. I've started a kind of kicker thread in each forum to get things rolling, feel free to ignore them and start your own. Michael posted a very good one.

Next up, I'm going to be focussing on the wiki. PMwiki is still a bit confusing. I have my spiffy shiny logo up that Kevin will be messing with soon. I'm going to try to make out a content layout, define categories and whatnot. I would really like to put a theme up there and make it nice and spiffy as well, but I fail at that sort of thing.

So, that aside, what are people looking for in terms of content. I'm saving the blog for last (although it's gonna need a lot of work too, maybe that's why) I have some really good plans for it. I really hope everyone will like them as much as I'm looking forward to doing them.
